In an utterly brilliant (and rather mad) move,\u00a0Blue Square Bet Premier<\/a>\u00a0league side,\u00a0Stockport County<\/a>, have made a formal bid for\u00a0Fleetwood Town<\/a>\u00a0striker,\u00a0George Donnelly<\/a>, after asking their\u00a0Twitter fans<\/a>\u00a0to vote.<\/p>\n

After fans had voted, club director Tony Evans posted onhis own personal Twitter page<\/a>,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fans have spoken the poll is clear to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club will now try and sign GD [George Donnelly].Might not happen but we have now made an enquiry. Let\u2019s see what happens. Didi [manager\u00a0Dietmar Hamann<\/a>] wants him.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the initial story,\u00a0first reported by the BBC<\/a>, Evans stated that he believed fans to be \u201cthe most important thing at a club and listening to them is crucial\u201d. Despite an official enquiry being made, Fleetwood felt that the offer did not meet their valuation of the player.<\/p>\n

It appears that the manager was happy to sign Donnelly or the alternative choice Jamie Vardy, therefore he gave the OK to let the fans make the final decision.<\/p>\n

In a week where football and social media has been heavily criticised in areas of the media and managers alike, it\u2019s refreshing to see one club not take itself too seriously and have fun with social media. It is also important to remember that social media is open to clubs of all sizes, and you don\u2019t necessarily need to have a huge budget in order to get involved.
