UEFA Champions League final receives 1.2m Tweets
This weekends UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea showed why Football Social Media is currently on a real growth spurt. The highly anticipated final received over 1.2m tweets during the match with the eventual winners Chelsea winning 73% of the overall mentions.
The stats come courtesy of ExactTarget Social Media lab who tracked and monitored the social media activity before and during the event. Some insights from their research includes:
- – Over 1.2 million tweets during the match
- – Roberto Di Matteo was the top tweeted coach with 24,983 tweets
- – Samsung declared victors as top tweet sponsor with over 90% of the sponsor tweets
- – The top re-tweeted tweet have 7015 Retweets
- – Great Britain led the countries with the most tweets at 22.83%
- – Majority of the Tweet were in English with 68%
