Fieldoo: LinkedIn social network for footballers and agents

We’re always keen to cover how Social Media is being used in the footballing industry and this means every so often we spot a piece of innovation and technology that we think changes the way the beautiful game works. This week we look at a new platform by the guys at Fieldoo who have built a community of amateur, semi professional and professional players who are all highlighting their skills with their very own digital sports CV. They are also tracking their progress online and are able to communicate with fellow players easier than ever before. Boasting well over 4000 users from 100 different countries, Fieldoo.com is looking to become the Linkedin of the football world.

The Social Network allows agents (especially those looking to break into the industry) to scour a player database worldwide and try unearth hidden gems. The platform works the other way round as it enables players from all levels to find representation – something that can be difficult in today’s modern game.

Fieldoo has already had a notable success whilst in beta. Having opened to a select number of agents, Serbian scout and agent Sasa Cuk of Spanish agency Pandora, got the task to find a central defender with youth national caps. Browsing through Fieldoo he found Slovenian footballer Matej Rapnik formally of Scottish Premier League team Hearts, who he then managed to to sign to Thailand champions SCG Muang Thong United shortly after; a revolutionary football transfer that could pave the way for a much more fluid and transparent footballing culture.

Fieldoo is undoubtedly an interesting and innovative service and only further marks the importance Social Media is having on the footballing industry. Already we’ve seen Social make it’s way into marketing, PR, customer service and media communications – it’s no surprise therefore to see a channel like this pop up and make headway into the lucrative but competitive player/agent landscape.
